Think my HDD is on its last legs, just after confirmation really.

Tivo crashed last week with the horribly familiar ticking HDD sound. Rebooted and it all came up OK.

Started navigating thru the programs and it rebooted itself.

Now it seems quite stable apart from the fact I cannot delete any recordings. Tried the old MS trick and rebooted it, but the recordings just do not go away.

Any ideas ? or is it time to replace the HDD, in which case I may not bother doing it myself and buy one with a cachecard etc to network it up

It certainly sounds like a drive problem.

You might be able to clear your 'stuck' recordings by doing a "Delete Guide data & ToDo List" or "Clear & Delete Everything" but I suspect you will just be putting of the inevitable.

If you can make an MFStools backup of your system now you should be able to restore it to a new drive. If you then network it and run my DeleteAll script (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=2717775#post2717775) that should (hopefully) clear out the recording stubs from the database and leave you with a clean NPL.

I had my first failed recording in ages last week - the first part of 'our friends in the north' which was particularly irritating. It appears in Now Playing but appears to be an empty file - it won't play at all.
