I have a DSR6000 with a network card, but decomissioned it when I moved up to the HD Directivo.

The DSR6000 does not have an active subscription.

I was thinking of throwing it away but I realized I should ask: Can I do anything cool with this thing? Can I make it into some sort of PC? A server for something?

What would you do with it?

Thanks!

Best use is as a playback station for a bedroom or something. Moving video from other sources (like a computer server or SD programming from the HD receiver) to the DSR6000 is pretty easy to set up.

Use of the DSR6000 as a video server for the HD DirecTivo offers no real advantage in functionality over a computer-based server, and has some disadvantages. I prefer series 2s for servers.
