I noticed that a few of the cool things from the latest regular Series 2 software update are missing from the new DTs.
The two things that jump out at me are the recently deleted folder and one touch deleting seem to be gone. Anyone have any info on this and if TiVo plans on adding this soon?
By the way, I ordered the new unit on Wednesday (April 26) of last week, and it got here on either Friday or Saturday. Not sure which because I was never notified when it shipped and just happen to see it on my front porch on Sunday. Yesterday (May 1) I got a notification that it had shipped on the 26th, two or three days after it had arrived.

I believe that if you have one feature, then you will have the other - they go hand-in-hand. Hopefully TiVo will release code to support this feature soon :)

This is pretty standard when new hardware is introduced.
At some point in the development process we have to 'branch' the software...we have to create a separate development environment for the new project (in this case, the DT). This was done many months ago, and reflects the state of the software when the branch was created.
So on this branch you have engineers working to ensure the (then) current features work well on new cool hardware.
On a separate branch you have engineers working to develop cool new features for existing hardware (eg. the undelete folder).
It happens simultaneously, and results in new hardware showing up sans some of the latest features. It's just the way the development world works. In general, asking the engineers to develop new features on new hardware is always a bigger challenge. Too many variables! :)
Fortunately the TiVo Service can be used to upgrade DVR's...so at some point that cool new hardware gets updated with all the latest cool new features.
Cheers,

Any chance you might know when we'll get the Recently Deleted folder? It is probably my favorite upgrade on my original series 2... that and home networking.

Just be patient, they just shipped. Now they need to roll the 7.2.2 features (like undelete) and the 7.2.5 features (like dual-tuner support) into one release. I'd say it'll take at least a few weeks, could be longer. The DVD units didn't get TiVoToGo for quite a while after the non-DVD boxes got it.

Ok, now it's been more than a year... My DT is barely a day old and still has 7.2.5.
No undelete yet? Actually, it's the one touch delete that I really want.

Only a day old, huh? How many times did you force a connection to TiVo? It takes at least a couple of connects to download the new software. You should get v8.3 within the next few days.
Normally, when a TiVo is fresh from the box, it does not have the latest software revision. That is a fact of life with a new TiVo. Be patient and give it a couple of days.
Hope that helps,

robomeister, you were right on the money. I suspected but I had already forced an update several times with no joy. Then I went to TiVo and requested the latest version asap. Then I chilled out.
This morning, bingo... I'm in the money.
To be honest, the set up of this latest TiVo was so much easier and quicker and slicker than any other TiVo I've ever owned, I got lulled into higher expectations on software version :)
I'm set and thanks.

The first step to any new TiVo setup IMO is forcing the connetion a few times to update the software version. ;)
