Hi,
I just socketed and installed my modified prom I got from Omikron in my R10 and booted up and everything is working fine. I now want to zipper it but I will be using the original drive and would like to backup everything on it so I can reload it if needed.

I found the following on mslive.org...

Disk to Disk Copy
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slow way but preserves recordings: (avg 2GB/min)

Option 1.1 To copy everything from original size Tivo drive to another and keep the same capacity:

backup -qTao - /dev/hdc | restore -s 128 -zpi - /dev/hdd

Or do you all recomend dd_rescue ?

I would like to save the backup in a folder on my PC drive. Is this the way to do it ?

Thanks

There is no effective way to make a backup with recordings.
The easiest thing to do is use a new drive for hacking, and keep the original drive in storage.

Thanks classicsat, I didn't know you couldn't copy/save everything including recordings.

I have already gone ahead and zippered the original drive and used the existing image and chose the option to keep existing recordings and I'm happy to see the recorded shows are still there.

Also, thanks to the thread I found that CrashHD had posted about bufferhack on the R10, I edited the .tcl file with his added code and it's working great.

Thanks again :)
