My Tivo wouldn't power up, so it's being replaced.
Is there someone or some company out there that could retrieve some old recordings I was trying to save and put them on a CD?

No - sorry. The recordings are encrypted with a key tied to the box they were recorded on. If the box is not functional, the recordings are lost.
